Why Discernment?
Discernment is a structured, yet adaptive, faith-rooted process to support communities and organizations in times of change, who are seeking clarity of call and purpose to more effectively live their mission. Discernment is a co-creative Spirit-centered practice that helps leaders and their communities navigate uncertainty and ambiguity with hope and vision. Engaging in a process of discernment is a way to faithfully and effectively make decisions that lead to tangible actions in their communities and world.
Communal discernment can lead to
clarity for implementing strategic vision
courage for the next faithful step
deepened relationships in community
cultivating a culture of spiritual attentiveness and deep listening
a habit of discernment in daily and communal life
Interdisciplinary Approach

Discernment thrives in diversity, and every community can be a community that effectively engages in discernment to seek direction and clarity of call. Across languages, cultures, spiritual types, and learning styles, discernment helps communities listen attentively through many voices and sources of wisdom.
Stand at the crossroads, and look, and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way lies; and walk in it and find rest for your souls.
